Summer is the best time to shop local farmers markets and if you live here in Hiddenbrooke, we're surrounded by some great markets!
The Vallejo Farmers Market is on Georgia Street in downtown Vallejo every Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm just west of Sonoma Boulevard. If you get downtown to the Vallejo market, you'll be treated to a delicious array of farm fresh produce, fresh cut flowers and fresh caught seafood. There is entertainment and prepared food as well. One of the other great things about the Vallejo farmers market is that you can usually catch up on local politics and current events. It is a great way for those of us in Hiddenbrooke who don't get into town much to stay connected to our broader communitiy.
The Benicia Main Street Farmers Market is on through the end of October
on Thursday evenings in downtown Benicia. The market is open on First Street from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and features great fresh farm produce, baked goods and a wonderful selection of gourmet treats and hot prepared foods. In addition, they have live music and entertainment most weeks, face painting for kids, pony rides as well as arts and crafts.
The Napa Downtown Farmers Market is every Tuesday and Saturday from 7:00am until noon through the end of October.
The market is on First Street next to the Oxbow Market between Soscol Avenue and the Silverado Trail. The Napa market features locally grown produce as well as baked goods and a great selection of artisan foods from local producers.
Of course, if you can't get out to one of these markets or grow your own, Hiddenbrooke is fortunate to have J&O's Market and Deli. J&O's buys local produce and is always a great choice for us (talk about buying local!).
Summer is a great time to enjoy a healthy fresh meal with family and friends so treat yourself to one of our surrounding local markets. Buy local and eat fresh!
